Face the State Flashback

Ronald Reagan in Connecticut, 1967

With the death of Nancy Reagan, we looked for video of the former First Lady visiting Connecticut for Sunday’s Face the State flashback.   All we could find in the archives was some old film from 1967, when she was First Lady of California accompanying her husband to New Haven and Hartford.

Governor Ronald Reagan was a political rising star then, and was already being talked about as potential presidential candidate in 1968,  although a few months before his trip to Connecticut,  Time magazine was touting him as a running mate for New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller.

In the vintage film you’ll see at the link below , Reagan took questions from Channel 3, and talked about the Soviet Union, Vietnam, and anti-war protestors.
