The House family joined the many tourists hitting Litchfield County over the weekend for peak foliage season. Kara had to emcee the first annual Run and Wag 5K race in Cornwall, so we made it a family trip in our new Buick Roadmaster. Kara’s co-emcee? One of the most talented television journalists around, CBS newsman Richard Schlesinger of 48 Hours.

Richard graciously took us to lunch at the Wandering Moose and then we headed to the March Farms in Bethlehem for some apples and pumpkin picking. Along the way, we took in some beautiful scenery and some unusual sights. Check out the entrance to this Buddhist Temple in Morris. We definitely want to go back and explore.

I also eyed these vintage green Buicks for sale in Goshen. They weren’t perfect but beautiful throwbacks to a great era in American automotive design.
