This Tuesday at the Old State House, former Attorney General candidate Martha Dean will enter the race for the governor and her impact on the other candidates could be significant. That’s according to two seasoned political journalists, who will join us on Face the State this Sunday.
Colin McEnroe is a talk show host on WNPR and a columnist for the Hartford Courant. He’s also an author, in fact I own a few of his books. His second was a gift from the writer himself back in the mid 1990s, when my then co-anchor Virginia Cha and I were frequent guests on his radio show.
Joining Colin for the taping was Rick Green, now the former politics editor of the Hartford Courant. Rick is heading off for a new venture in his native Vermont. Read about that here: https://dennishouse.tv/2014/03/04/two-local-legends-leaving-for-new-ventures/
Colin has made it clear people who underestimate Dean “do so at their own peril,” and Rick explained why some of the other candidates in the race could be hurt by Dean’s entrance into the Republican campaign to unseat Governor Malloy.
Also on the program this Sunday, we are talking about a new retirement being debated at the capitol. Bonnie Stewart of CBIA is here to argue for the plan’s defeat in the legislature, and Sal Luciano of AFSCME will make the case for it.
Our flashback this week contains some familiar faces, including Dick Bertel, Ben Andrews and Toby Moffett. Get a sneak peek here: https://dennishouse.tv/2014/03/12/face-the-state-flashback-dick-bertel-leaves-channel-3-as-wfsb-is-born/
