A longtime Channel 3 viewer asked why Randall Pinkston is now back on Eyewitness News. She correctly remembered he worked at Channel 3 back in the 1970s.
Pinkston works for CBS News and was recently assigned to the network’s Newspath division, which provides news coverage of national events solely for CBS stations like WFSB. The reports are tailored for each station, which is why Pinkston signs off by saying “In Washington, Randall Pinkston, Channel 3 Eyewitness News.
I met Randall a few times over the years at various breaking news stories and he is the consumate gentleman and nice guy. Kara worked with him Friday in Times Square and echoed that sentiment. He’s a top notch journalist, too.
Al Terzi worked with Pinkston at Channel 3 30 odd years ago and remembers him going to UConn Law School when he wasn’t working as a reporter.
On another note, have you noticed four other CBS correspondents who file reports for Channel 3 all have the same surname: Joel Brown, Terrell Brown, Karen Brown and Kathryn Brown. To the best of my knowledge they are not related.

I have known Randall Pinkston since I got started in the business, though I haven’t talked with him in a long time. He and I went to the same college, and it got me in touch with him for career advice. During my first few years in television news, I sent him a tape and he evaluated it and called me back! He was thorough with his comments and I did not feel like he rushed me off the phone.
I remember when he went from WCBS-TV in New York (I used to watch him on that channel growing up) to CBS network. I was shopping at a clothing store and bumped into him while he was purchasing three brand new beautiful suits for his new job. He told me all about the move and how excited he was. I have been watching him on CBS News, 48 Hours, and other network shows, and have been a big fan for a long time.
