Once a Year I’m an Artist

Every summer the House family takes part in a fun event that has become somewhat of a tradition. We sit around the dining room table and paint for a good cause. Our amateur artwork is then on display along with dozens of artists who donate their creations to support the historic Newport Art Museum.

It is called “Wet Paint,” and it raises thousands of dollars every year. Some of the art up for auction is done by professional artists but they let the inexperienced take part too and there are many people from Connecticut who take part.

This year Kara painted our cat Angelo, and I did another cartoonish piece involving a car and a sea creature. If you’d like to bid on our artwork or some of the others, here’s how to do it: https://newportartmuseum.org/events/wet-paint-2024/ It is free to register to bid and you can also see in person this weekend.

UPDATE: my painting sold for $335. with all proceeds going to the museum

  1. Hi Dennis House!! How are you? I visited Wet Paint for the first time this year and was delighted by your artwork 😊 I was writing to ask if it’s ever possible to buy prints of your paintings? I’d love to purchase one of this year’s entry!

Looking forward to your reply! -Claire
