Gold Star Families Memorial Monument

It was a great honor to serve as master of ceremonies for the unveiling of the Connecticut Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. This beautiful site of reflection and prayer is located at Veterans Park in Berlin. I recommend a visit.

A gold star family is one who has lost a family member in the line of duty serving our country in the U.S. military. Along those there in attendance: Bob and Helen Pedersen-Kaiser, who lost son Andrew Pedersen-Keel and Ray and Leesa Philippon, who lost son Lawrence.

Thanks to Dan Butler and Tom Hickey, who took some of these photos. Also WTNH chief meteorologist Gil Simmons, who is a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
