Many of the twenty-somethings in the WFSB newsroom, along with millions of people across the country, are avid viewers of the television series, “The People v. O.J. Simpson.” These colleagues are too young to remember the real trial of the century, but for the rest of us, we watched the drama unfold on live television from winter through fall of 1995.
In the summer of that year, I was in the courtroom with the same characters you see on the tv show: Marcia Clark, Johnny Cochrane, Lance Ito, and of course, a fallen football legend. Then WFSB news director Mark Effron sent me from Hartford to Los Angeles to get the Connecticut angle and the old video was this Sunday’s Face the State flashback.
Connecticut’s super sleuth, the acclaimed forensic scientist Doctor Henry Lee, had been hired by Simpson to help prove the argument that DNA evidence had been bungled by the Los Angeles Police Department. .
