Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim is dealing with a $20 million dollar budget deficit, and thinks he has a plan to fix it. It involves cuts and a broader change in how the city does business.
In a taping of Face the State set to air Sunday morning on WFSB, Ganim talked about the financial obligations left behind by Mayor Bill Finch. He also went into detail about how he handled the Park City’s problems in the 1990s, and how the climate is vastly different from today.
Also on the program, two Republicans seeking to crack the all Democratic Connecticut congressional delegation. State Representative Dan Carter is running for the GOP nomination against August Wolf to take on Senator Richard Blumenthal.
Hartford businessman Matt Corey is back for another race against Congressman John Larson. Both Carter and Corey laid out their cases as to why they believe the voters should tap in the mood across the country and look for new political blood.
Our flashback airs about an hour and half before the UConn victory parade in downtown Hartford, so we pulled out some antique parade video from our archives: the Hartford Whalers parade of 1986. Preview here: https://dennishouse.tv/2016/04/08/1986-when-hartford-whalers-fever-swept-the-state/
Tune in Sunday morning at 11AM on WFSB.
