Two politicians very much in the news now were also making headlines in Connecticut in the summer of 1994. Billionaire Donald Trump is now the frontrunner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, and former Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim is in mounting a political comeback as he tries to get his old job back in the November election. Twenty-one years ago the pair got together to unveil a massive plan to revitalize Connecticut’s long suffering largest city.

Our Face the State flashback Sunday featured an Eyewitness News report from June of 1994, when Trump arrived in Bridgeport in a helicopter and met the media with Ganim, then a rising star in the state Democratic party.
