Looking for Connecticut Girls from 1980

rex1.jpg

It was a scene reminiscent of the Beatles and the British invasion of 1964. About two thousand screaming and giggling teenaged girls and some 20 and 30 somethings, too gathering at the Hartford Civic Center to meet a teen idol, and maybe even get a kiss. It was January of 1980.

Do you recognize any of these girls, who might be moms or even grandmothers now? This Sunday on Face the State, you’ll see some old video and interviews with some of these teens vying for the attention of the man of their dreams. Who was it? Also, the person who conducted the interviews may surprise you. The answer here: https://dennishouse.tv/2015/02/20/teen-idol-rex-smith-faces-bill-oreilly/

  1. I don’t know any of the girls in the pictures but I was one of the girls at Al Franklin’s Music shop that day. I got there at 8am that morning and waited all day. I was one of the girls in the front of the line. I remember giving Rex my scarf and he signed my album. I still have it to this day. I think I also have the news paper article as well. Wow thanks for bringing back a great memory.
