The state Democratic party has been focusing its attention on 2010 Republican gubernatorial nominee Tom Foley, but it is only a matter of time before other candidates enter the 2014 race for governor. During a taping of Face the State set to air this Sunday, one of those potential candidates told me he will make a decision on running later this spring.
House Minority Leader Larry Cafero said sometime after the end of the legislative session on June 4th, he will decide whether to form an exploratory committee. The Norwalk Republican talked at length about Ambassador Foley, and about Governor Malloy, saying the report card on the governor is not good. I asked Cafero to grade the governor and he responded, “C- to a D.”
This Sunday we also have analysis from the Hartford Courant’s Chris Keating, and some Republican commentary on the race from William Landers of the conservative blog, Ameriborn News.

The Republican Party should not allow ethically challenged Cafero, who has such utter disregard for Constitutional Rights and individual liberty, to remain as their leader in the state house. As a Republican, I cannot support a so called “leader” who uses his leadership position to improperly advance the agenda of his law/lobbying firm while voting to impede on the rights of and to criminalize thousands of law-abiding gun owners. Cafero is damaged goods and the sooner Republicans distance themselves from him the better.
Dennis, I wish you had given William Landers more air time. He is well educated in politics, I feel he was cut short today.
I enjoyed the show and may write something about it for Ameriborn News. Dennis always does a great job interviewing and I’m glad his staff found the photo I took of Bill Landers when we covered CPAC 2012 in D.C. to use in the beginning of the show. Rep. Cafero is always an eloquent speaker though as Keating pointed out Malloy “won” the election by less than one percent so it’s hard to argue Tom would not be a popular candidate with the people again. Bill Landers, with what time he had, gave answers that were all true and relevant. My opinion may seem biased, understandably, but my colleagues know I’m very honest and if I didn’t think he did well I would not say so. I hope you have him back on, Dennis.
I think that more time should have been given to William Landers to speak I also feel that his time was cut short & he had much more to say
