Hartford Hospital’s Black and Red on WTNH and the Goo Goo Dolls, too!

What a great night at the historic Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate health! It was Hartford Hospital’s Black and Red, Hartford Healthcare’s signature fundraising event. The focus this year, cancer care.

WTNH was the proud media sponsor and I was honored to host the Black and Red program alongside Rebecca Stewart, VP of content strategy at Hartford Healthcare, with News 8’s Lisa Carberg and Hartford Healthcare’s Tina Varona providing special reports. The show featured some remarkable information and stories about cancer care and if you missed it, you can watch it here: https://www.wtnh.com/news/health/watch-hartford-healthcares-black-red-gala/

We interviewed President and CEO Jeffrey Flaks, who talked about his goal to increase healthcare access across our state. Jeff has been a long time advocate for bringing essential life saving health services to the underserved in Connecticut.

WTNH VP and General Manager Rich Graziano presented a check for $7500 to coincide with News 8’s 75th anniversary and he talked about why helping improve cancer care is personal for him.

The show was broadcast by our amazing and talented News 8 team led by assistant news director Nicole Warren.

Black and Red attracted 1200 people to the sold out Bushnell with food provided by Max Hospitality and the highlight of the night was the musical guest: the Goo Goo Dolls!

My tux and Rich’s by JT Ghamo of Hartford and the signs were all done by Pete Rappoccio of Sign Pro, whom we profiled on This Week in Connecticut last year. You can watch that story right here: https://www.wtnh.com/this-week-in-connecticut/signs-of-success-southington-companys-work-goes-national/
