Peter Lumaj is back for another go at statewide office. The Albanian born attorney lost the secretary of the state’s race to Denise Merrill in 2014 in a race that was much closer than anyone could have imagined.

Lumaj is our guest this weekend on Face the State to talk about his next move. He’s raising money for an exploratory campaign, and told us he might run for governor. He painted a dour picture of the state economy, and blasted the state for its view on sanctuary cities.

“If I were the governor I would cut funding to sanctuary cities. If you came to the united state illegally you shouldn’t be rewarded for that. What we are doing right now is enticing people who are illegal to come into our state. We are giving them drivers licenses. We are giving them sanctuary cities. They get in state tuition. It pays to be illegal in our state.”
