Tailgating at Rentschler Field is a relatively new pastime. Before “the Rent” opened in 2003, Huskies fans watched the football team on campus, at the old Memorial Stadium.
Back then, tailgating wasn’t quite what it is today, and the proximity of the game to dorms and apartments made for plenty of parties on campus, and the university wasn’t exactly thrilled by the liquor-fueled festivities. In this Sunday’s Face the State flashback, we dusted off an old report I filed in the fall of 1992, at the UConn Yale game.
The students we interviewed are in their 40s now, perhaps parents or CEOs and they will no doubt get a nostalgic kick out of this 22 year old video.
Watch the report at the link below and let me know if you see yourself. That’s our weekend anchor and one time Face the State moderator Jeff Cole.
