Adriaen's Landing in Final Phase

Back in the day, as a relatively young reporter, I spent plenty of time in the late 1990s covering the Adriaen’s Landing development, which is now in the final phase.    It has been a long road, but things are picking up.   The Front Street entertainment district isn’t open yet, but the tenants are starting to come.

This Sunday on Face the State, we are joined by Suzanne Hopgood from the Capital Regional Development Authority.  CRDA is the new agency replacing CCEDA, which oversaw the development of Adriaen’s and other downtown projects.

Hopgood has some encouraging updates.  Tune in this Sunday at 11 on Channel 3.

  1. This lady seems to think that those of us who live in the suburbs should have to shoulder some of the costs to develop Hartford. Why should we? It’s not our town. I pay more than my fair share of taxes to this state and the town that I live in. Hartford was overly generous with their pensions and other benefits to their town employees, now they cannot afford basic town services, without resorting to over taxing. And good luck on that bus way to nowhere, which will probably need a subsidy to operate, once they figure out that there is nowhere near the number of people using it, as they told us would.

  2. Yes Joseph, you should have to cover some of the costs to develop Hartford. It will help you learn to go more than ten minutes from your house. Then you’ll discover that there is such a thing as a CITY and its FAR FAR better than your depressing suburb. And I’m assuming you’re not college educated, because if you were, you’d realize that public transportation is a good thing. Lastly, try being less prejudiced against people that are different from you. Might make you sound less ignorant. Just some friendly suggestions.
