We just received a response from Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro through her spokesperson Kaelan Richards to a statement made today by the Chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party.
“This is a partisan attack and inappropriate. Let’s focus on continuing to address the problems people are facing. The last thing people need is this kind of partisan attack by the Chairman of the Republican Party.” U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro (D) CT-3
Here is our earlier story: http://dennishouse.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/ct-gop-delauro-should-choose-permanent-vacation/
Richards says DeLauro is back in the district and will tour the devastated communities tomorrow.

When I first read your post, I thought “Does it matter that she is on vacation? Would her presence in CT have made any difference at all–I don’t think so.” I still believe that. I do not think a state congressperson should have to return from a vacation for this. A Governor and our two U.S. Senators, absolutely. However, her official response is ridiculous. It is an example of what could be the biggest downfall of our country–bipartisan bickering. Her response should’ve stated, “I regret that I was not able to be amongst my constituents at such a difficult time, but I was in touch with my office and my staff was doing everything possible to insure restoration and clean up was moving forward.” For her to immediately claim it was a partisan attack is unprofessional and quite frankly, childish.

I agree with you completely.

Leave her alone and let her go. Maybe she’ll get a job in Italy and won’t come back.

Personally I wouldn’t care but if you back track to Katrina you’ll find DeLauro set the stage for what is now known and defined as “Political Hackery” as an art form.

These are ridiculously petty comments. She was on vacation when this CT tragedy hit. It IS partisan to attack her for that situation, nor should she return to CT. How will that assist the state? Her work on behalf of the State of CT is well documented. She has no reason to defend any past action on behalf of CT or the United States of America. Rosa Delauro has done more to promote American ideals and progress for CT than any critic of either party.
