TV Show Police Car Spotted in Unlikely Place

For people of a certain age and the generations that followed thanks to re-runs one of the most popular police shows of all time is Adam-12. It ran from 1968 to 1975 and it chronicled the lives of fictional Los Angeles Police Department officers Pete Malloy and Jim Reed.

The show also starred their cruiser, a 1969 Plymouth Belvedere at least for the first few seasons. I love classic cars so imagine my surprise when I spotted one in a parking lot in Newport, Rhode Island a few weeks ago. I saw it a few days later in traffic and gave the driver a wave, and then saw it again a few days later in nearby Middletown, Rhode Island.

It is is super cool and in mint condition. I didn’t see the owner around so I don’t know the background story, but I found this in a quick google search. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-plymouth-satellite-9/ Could it be the same one?

There are some fairly modern police cars for sale out there, but antique ones are harder to find. I spotted this vintage cruiser for sale in 2016 https://dennishouse.tv/2016/06/01/want-to-buy-a-police-car/ and this old one also https://dennishouse.tv/2014/08/29/how-to-own-a-police-cruiser/
