So many of us take health care for granted, but there are thousands across Connecticut who don’t have it. I was honored to be a guest at Hartford HealthCare’s Medical Mission on Saturday, a day long free clinic essentially that provided potentially life saving services to those who walked through the doors.

There were seven locations in our state, served by 4 thousand volunteers! Those health professionals offered cardiac screenings, cholesterol checks counseling and so much more. Haircuts, clothing even feet washing were all available. It was extraordinary.

The mission was perhaps best summed up by Hartford HealthCare President and CEO Jeff Flaks “together, we are making a difference and building a future where healthcare is fair and equitable, ensuring that no person’s zip code defines their life expectancy.”
