Isla Del Encanto

Nothing quiet like 80 degree weather as winter gets underway in New England. Kara the kids and I celebrated the ringing on the New Year in Puerto Rico. We went there once before the kids were born, but this was our first trip back since 2004.

We stayed in the western part of the island in an area called Cabo Rojo and our tour guide was a our dear friend Raquel Rivera, who grew up in Puerto Rico, known as the Isla Del Encanto. You may remember Raquel from a conversation I had with her on This Week in Connecticut with Dennis House in 2021. You can watch that here: https://www.wtnh.com/hidden-history/hispanic-heritage-month/latina-woman-heads-manufacturing-and-assembly-at-pratt-whitney/

Raquel showed us a side of the island few tourists get to see and we had an awesome time! Here are some photos and I will see you on the news tonight at 6 and 11 on WTNH.

I’ve had the great pleasure of working on Connecticut’s biggest Puerto Rican celebration, the Hartford Puerto Rican Day parade.  You can watch the 2023 parade right here: https://www.wtnh.com/on-air/puerto-rican-day-parade/greater-hartford-puerto-rican-day-parade-how-to-watch-if-you-cant-attend/
