One of the great things I love about living in Connecticut is the proximity to so many destinations, including my birthplace. It is under 100 miles from Hartford to Norwood, Massachusetts. Kara, the kids and I went there to visit my mom and take her to lunch in Norwood Center.

I’ve written about my hometown a few times on this site, not just for nostalgic reasons, but because it is a cool Boston suburb with a cool vibe. My great-grandparents settled here more than a century ago after emigrating from Italy and first living in Boston’s North End. There are some great restaurants including Lewis’, which dates back to the 1930s, a bowling alley that is just as old, historic churches, ancients schools and more.
Like many places, Norwood is adapting to life in the world of COVID. Some streets now have outdoor dining where cars used to park, and check out how AstroTurf was used to close off a street near the Norwood Common and historic Norwood Theater.
By the way, that Balch School sweatshirt represents one of my elementary schools in Norwood and the X hat is for my alma mater, Xaverian Brothers High School.

- In the distance is St. Catherine of Siena Church. I was baptized here as was my mother. My parents were married here, and funerals for my grandparents and great-grandparents were held here.

I enjoy reading your posts but have to say WFSB is losing much without your presence. With all that is going on in the world right now intelligent and informed reporting is necessary and I have to say I truly miss it. My best to you and your family.

Dennis my first house was on Neponset street at 20 years of age , ironically I now live retired in Point O Woods So Lyme Ct , still visit Olde Colonial, Paul has been a friend fog over 45 years , loved the town.
