Greenwich Concours

Spring and summer mean car shows when classic car owners take their beauties out after a long Connecticut winter.

The Greenwich Concours D’Elegance features cars worth up to a few million dollars. in a beautiful setting on Long Island Sound.   This pink 1959 Dodge Coronet is one of the rare beauties you’ll see and it is a relative bargain. It was expected to sell at auction for $30,000 to $50,000.

Wayne Carini of the show “Chasing Classic Cars’ was there showing off his passion for rare sets of wheels. He was talking about Cunninghams and Tuckers, cars you won’t see  on the road but they have quite a story.

We also spotted a Rolls Royce station wagon that sold for $583,000 and a Pagani that retails for over $1,000,000.   Kara and the cars marveled over the bright colors and chrome that car designers used to rely on.    Cars are certainly better made today, but they could use an infusion of color and style from a bygone era.

By the way, there is a similar event on June 24th at West Hartford Center to benefit Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.  I’ll be emceeing so come on out and say hi.
