It is not a complete surprise, but Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy has endorsed Hillary Clinton in the race for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination. Malloy announced the endorsement on Face the State this morning seen on WFSB Hartford (CBS.)
Malloy said “it is time to pick the most experienced individual” and rattled off a list of reasons he is supporting her rather than his gubernatorial brethren with whom he shares a progressive record, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley.
I asked Governor Malloy about an issue that has dogged Clinton lately, her trustworthiness. A recent poll by CNN found 52% don’t think the former secretary of state is honest.
DH: “Do you think she is honest?”
DM: “ I know her to be honest. When you have 24 republicans running against you telling anything but the truth about your record, take Benghazi for instance, it has an impact.”
What about Clinton’s wealth? Malloy made Tom Foley’s wealth an issue in the fall campaign for governor. Watch the endorsement and Malloy’s response right here right after our Obama flashback:
