A Fun Part of My Job

Helping out charities is something many of us here at Channel 3 regularly do, and one of my favorite events of the year is the South Windsor Rotary Club’s annual fundraiser.  I get to give away a car!   This year’s prize: a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

Actually, I just pick the winner and announce the lucky person.  Problem is, every year I’ve done it, the winner hasn’t been there!  This year the winner was from Darien, and I spoke to him on the phone.

Kudos to the South Windsor Rotarians for raising money for high school scholarships.  If I was only younger and single…I would definitely drive one of these Camaros!

  1. Ahhh it does look like a great and pretty car, but just think of how much the taxes would be for a baby like this. I’m sure you are much happier with Kara, the girls, the new car you just bought.

I’m sorry that the winners haven’t been there when you have called their names. It is their loss of not meeting you. I’m hoping to meet more of you from Channel 3. I met Mike Haydek when I donated for Hati, which was a thrill! I’m sorry I won’t be able to meet Kevin Hogan at the MS Ride, I have another obligation that I can’t change (family rules right now even though I have M.S. I think this is a great thing and look forward to being there next year).

Please say ‘thanks’ from me to everybody who helps out from the station for any and all charities. It does mean a lot to us who are lucky enough to meet you, and lucky enough to get the help when we need it.

  2. Dennis needs to axe the new tablets! I can’t tell when the news is over after all these years of watching him grab his partner’s script, stacking it with his and dropping the 10 pounds of paper on the floor behind them.
No more entertainment on the evening news!
