It’s that time of year for a creative event that raises money for an historic institution. West Paint Newport features artists from beginners to professionals who donate work to support the Newport Art Museum.
The House family has taken part in this for several years (check out previous posts below) though for 2023 I was the only one who got out the acrylics and went to work. Last year we were away so it was great to get back at it.
This year my creation was the melding of two summer blockbusters from nearly five decades apart: Barbie and Jaws. It took about 3 hours to paint.
Artists then donate their works and they go up for silent auction. Mine got several bids and went for $300, which benefits the museum’s programs.
It would be great to get something like this started in Connecticut.
