Take it from someone who knows what it feels like, losing your job is tough. After 43 years, ESPN’s vice-president of corporate communications Mike Solys was laid off. The sports network let him stick around for a bit, and Mike invited me to come to Bristol and talk with him about an amazing career. Watch that chat on This Week in Connecticut right here:

I’ve done several interviews with ESPN folks over the years, including one with Steve Levy, you can watch that by clicking here:

Also Brett Edgerton, who shared his battle with testicular cancer to help others. His inspiring story is here:

After the Bristol police shooting I also visited the ESPN campus to talk about their reaction to this terrible story.

Way back in 2012 John Buccigross was a guest on my old show Face the State to talk Whalers.
On the day the Soltys interview aired I also spoke with Dean Pagani, the former chief of staff to Governor Rowland who talked to me about the state’s new effort to attract an NHL team. He revealed new details about the Whalers negotiations in the 1990s and the failed deal with the Patriots.
