Our lead story for much of this week has been about a serial killer who dumped his victims in some woods in New Britain near a shopping area that includes the Westfarms Mall. That breaking news coincided with the anniversary of the execution of another Connecticut serial killer, Michael Ross on May 13, 2005.
In this Sunday’s Face the State flashback, we have a report from our archives filed by Channel 3’s Kara Sundlun hours after Ross was put to death by lethal injection. She was at the state prison in Somers overnight reporting on any last minute efforts to stop the execution, and on the event itself. In the report you’ll see Sunday, we will hear from relatives of some of Ross’ victims, an eyewitness to the execution, the lead prosecutor and more. Look for former reporter Shelly Sindland in some of the shots; she was one of those chosen to witness the implementation of the death penalty, which was later abolished.
