Ten years ago this week we were still reporting on the aftermath of the Station nightclub fire in Rhode Island when another mass casualty fire made news. 16 people died in a fire in the Greenwood Nursing Home when a mentally ill patient set fire to a mattress.
The fire was a big talker at the state capitol where lawmakers were outraged that a mentally ill patient was housed with senior citizens. In this Sunday’s Face the State flashback you saw Kim Fettig’s report from the scene on February 26, 2003 and her interview with State Senator Edith Prague.
By the way, Kim is now living in Atlanta with her husband and two children. Prague retired last year.
