State Will Pay For Rell Portrait

The controversy over whether the state will pay for an official portrait of former Governor Jodi Rell is over.  Tonight during a taping of Face the State, Governor Malloy said “it is all taken care of.”  The Governor told me has instructed the Office of Policy and Management to pay for the oil portrait, which reportedly could cost roughly $40,000.

The controversy made headlines last month when Brian Lockhart of Hearst Newspapers reported money for the portrait was not in the state budget.

The portrait will hang in the gallery of former governors at the State Library in Hartford.   You can hear more from Governor Malloy about that and many other issues this Sunday morning at 11AM on Face the State.
