Closed Captioning Isn’t Perfect

Our apologies to our hearing impaired viewers on Tuesday.   If you were watching Better Connecticut, Kara Sundlun was talking about Scot Haney’s Joy for the Kids concert and showed this picture of Kara, Denise D’Ascenzo, and me with singer Ronnie Spector, founder of the Ronettes.

Closed captioning got most of the names right, except for Denise’s name, which came out as Pear Vichyssoise.   Ooops.  I guess if you say Denise D’Ascenzo really fast it might sound like that cold pear soup…maybe, kinda, not.   That’s what the computer heard.

By the way, I’m told Prudence Sloan made that dish later in the show.
