You never know what you will spot in a thrift store, and case in point is a recent find that was quite the historic discovery. A New England Whalers tie! I was in the Goodwill store in Avon recently dropping off donations and whenever I do that I take a walk through the store looking for that one thing you can’t find anywhere else.

Pucky the Whale caught my attention, but this one is on a shield with Club 91. Pretty sure this dates back to the 1970s. I wore it on the news and on This Week in Connecticut on WTNH. The price? Three dollars. Yes, $3.00 !

By the way, I have two other Hartford Whalers ties below, one made by Connecticut based Vineyard Vines, and the other a gift from a former co-worker. Another former colleague made me a Whalers mask during the pandemic and like any good Whalers fan, I have a few shirts in my wardrobe.
