The news that State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr. won't run for governor in 2018 shifts the focus of pundits to Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman. Will she run for governor? Kennedy and Wyman were the two biggest names of potential candidates the Democrats were waiting on. It was widely believed Kennedy wouldn't run if Wyman did, so perhaps she has made up her mind to run, or not.
A Wyman spokeswoman told me today Wyman is focused on the budget before making any announcement about her future. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, the Democrat field consists of a handful of potential candidates who are exploring runs. It's also possible if Wyman doesn't run, that a member of the congressional delegation might see an opportunity and may want to ditch their minority status in Washington, so I'm including them in the poll below.
As for Republicans, House Minority Leader Themis and Klarides and Republican Senate leader Len Fasano are considering runs, and several other GOP potential candidates are already in the exploratory phase with two declared candidates, Tim Herbst and Prasad Srinivasan. Some are hoping MSNBC's Joe Scarborough will, but I'm told that is highly unlikely.

Maybe a Wyman run with Kennedy on the ticket as LT. Gov.?
