GOP Falls to Dems in Debate Viewers

The Republican gubernatorial  debate may have been more entertaining than the Democrats’ debate, but more more people watched Dan Malloy and Ned Lamont, than Tom Foley, Michael Fedele and Oz Griebel.

According to Nielsen Research, we can report yesterday’s debate on Channel 3 was once again the second most watched program at 3PM, once again behind General Hospital.    The GOP debate was once again on par with the ratings for “Better Connecticut,” which was pre-empted for two days for the debates.

We should point out the Republicans had just debated last week, and the Democratic debate was more anticipated, and received more advance press coverage.

General Hospital WTNH 3.7 rating 10  share

Debate WFSB 1.7 rating 5 share

Ellen WVIT .9 rating 2 share

Wilkos  WTIC 1.3 rating 3 share

Judge Brown WCTX 1.1 rating 2 share

                                                                   1.2 rating 2 share

Tyra Banks WCCT      .9  2 share

Combined with the CPTV airing of the debate at 8PM, the GOP debate got a total rating of 2.3,   still lower than the combined ratings for the Democratic debate.    The debate was also simulcast twice on WNPR.      There are more viewers to come:  CTN will be broadcasting the debates again.
