Connecticut

A New Connecticut Destination

When the House family goes out to dinner it is always preceded by a big discussion about where to go. One person wants pizza the other Mexican and the back and forth and nixing of places and deal making begins. “Okay, then next time we go to …..”

We may have found a solution: the Parkville Market in Hartford. On Saturday we starving after a run in Elizabeth Park so off we went with the kids and we all got what we wanted. Helena had Italian, Julian Brazilian, Kara Greek and I went for the Vietnamese.

Parkville Market is billed as Connecticut’s first food a giant open market food court with lots of choices. 18 restaurants and two bars. Local vendors serve up a variety of specialities and it is served fast. You can eat at tables indoor and outdoors, which has a cool Brooklyn vibe to it. The CT Fasttrak stop is nearby.

We lucked out on the day we went. It was 70 plus degrees on a beautiful November day. Kara and I were starving after a run in Elizabeth Park so off we went.

Also we’ve been trying to make the most of a beautiful autumn as signs of winter continue to pop up like poinsettias at Big Y. I picked up a patio heater and managed to assemble it!

Also check out the wall of local heroes at the Parkville Market by Hartford photographer Joe Gaylor, who is a must follow on Instagram.

  1. Have you ever tried “J’s” on Washington st Hartford? Husband was in hospital so while he was down having tests , daughter and I were hungry. We asked security staff who suggested this place. It is right opposite Children’s Hospital : the side facing Washington St. it is AWESOME. The ambiance was really nice. It relaxed us ( plus they serve wine and beer) the staff was superior Prices fair. Variety on menu. A favorite of HHosp. They even deliver there. Owner very nice. Exceed CDC quidelines. We will go back!
