Connecticut

Thank you Connecticut! Time for a New Beginning

Here’s the headline: I am no longer with WFSB and I’m not sure what is next. Here’s an announcement posted by the station:

WFSB (Channel 3) and Dennis House jointly announce that they have mutually agreed to part ways. For more than two decades, Dennis covered some of the biggest stories in Connecticut including the September 11th attacks, the O.J Simpson trial, the death of Pope John Paul II and several UCONN Final Four championships. Dennis also hosted the state’s highest rated political show, “Face the State”. Dennis has won several Emmy Awards and in 2018 was inducted to the Silver Circle of the New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am to have served the great state of Connecticut as a journalist for 28 years at WFSB. The station has meant so much more to me than just a job. I’ve grown up here. The people who work here are my family. I met my wife here, became a father here and suffered the tremendous loss of Denise D’Ascenzo here. The special report that night was the most challenging moment of my career. Being half of the most successful and longest running anchor team in Connecticut television history was a great honor. What’s next? When nothing is certain anything is possible. I just hope my next chapter is as rewarding as this past one,” said Dennis House.

“On behalf of all of us at WFSB, we want to thank Dennis for his decades of service to the people of Connecticut and wish him luck in his future endeavors. Dennis has a passion for news and politics, telling thousands of wonderful stories from here in Connecticut and around the world over the years,” said Dana Neves, VP/General Manager of WFSB, Channel 3.

As the television saying goes, “stay tuned.”

I was so sad to hear of the loss of Denise and I do not doubt that loss played a part in this decision for you now. I always had respect for you as a journalist (which has become a huge deal in this age of fake news ) and I wish you the best in your new career! God Bless Dennis!

  46. Sorry to read that WFSB made this inconceivable axe of a favorite anchor. Assuredly the CEOs will use the money saved by boosting their own bonuses and/or salaries. Sad they are so fearful of talent expecting just compensation while these ruling “suits” collect their 30 pieces of silver.ruling

Oh I will be writing them also. I see from this page that you are still implying that YOU lost Denise. You are terrible. What is wrong with you?
