Denise D’Ascenzo Photo Album 1

Denise’s daughter Kathryn told me last night she was grateful for the fun times and laughs her mother and I shared. My TV wife and sister had a zany sense of humor and loved movies like “Dumb and Dumber” and “Revenge of the Nerds.” I’m posting these pictures of some of the silly times Denise and enjoyed. In a business where we reported awful news on a daily basis, these lighter moments were a hallmark of our 27 year friendship. I’ll post some more pics as come across them.

  12. What a tremendous loss. Her voice always soothing no matter the depth of the story. Highest level of professionalism demonstrated each and every evening. Because we spend a lot of time with our co-workers we do develop relationships and friendships that last forever. Thank you for sharing a piece of your history with Denise by your side. Your true friendship and respect for each other shined when you were on air together. Sorry for the loss of a wife, mother, friend and co worker. A shock to us all. My condolences to her family, co-workers and the viewers of WFSB. Heaven has another Angel. Gone too soon. God bless.

  14. My sincere condolences to Denise’s Family. Both Off air and on. I have been watching Channel 3 News since I was around 5 years old. I felt like everyone on air was part of my family. We shared the joy of marriages and Births. If I remember correctly, Gayle King and Denise were both behind trying to set Dennis up on a date publicly. He was so embarrassed. I was thrilled when he Married Kara! They make a great couple. And Denise thought so too. You could tell. I feel like I have lost a sister. Rest in Peace Denise with the angels. I feel it fitting to such an amazing soul that she passed in her sleep and never had to suffer. She deserved to go in peace. Love from all of us on earth to our newest guardian angel.

  23. Dennis, I love how you’re using your time and energy to blog! I’m wondering what happened to the fart machine. I hope it didn’t break in the 22 years since I left WFSB. (Do you know how old it was at the time?) I remember Denise using it on Miles Musio, who was brought in to replace Hilton Kaderli. He made a face and walked away, and she started giggling! That’s what the night beat was like, with so few people in the newsroom, unsupervised. Looking back, I would’ve done so many things differently in my 19-1/2 months at WFSB. Yes, I have many regrets but I learned some good lessons. In fact, I can’t use the word “historic” or look at carrots without thinking of Denise. Of course, nothing lasts forever, from jobs to the field of journalism. 😢
